Sitting in the Dark with Vulpix | A Pokémon Bedtime Story about Not Having to Get It Right

From the podcast The Little Feather | Kids Stories for Big Feelings

·07:21
A gentle bedtime story for young children about being loved when you get it wrong. Cassian is folding paper lanterns on the floor of the little back room, and Vulpix is carrying each one across to the row by the wall. Vulpix has done it a hundred times before tonight and it has always been fine. But tonight he wants to get every single one of them right, and he checks Cassian's face after every trip. Then a tail swings round behind him, brushes the paper, and a small brown mark opens into a hole. Vulpix turns all the way around and curls up with his tails to the wall, and the room goes dim - because his six warm tails are the only light in it, and now nobody can finish anything. Cassian says the reasonable, kind thing from across the floor, and it does not work. He says it again, a little bit louder, and it does not work the second time either. So he puts the paper down, goes over, and sits down next to him in the dark - without saying it is all right, and without asking him to come back. The Little Feather tells original stories inspired by Pokémon - gentle stories about self-love, emotional regulation, boundaries, leadership, and gratitude. Written and told by Chris Shanku in his own voice. Every video is vetted and approved by Chris's five-year-old son. Pokémon in this story: Vulpix. The Little Feather is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Nintendo, Game Freak, or The Pokémon Company. #Pokemon #KidsStories #Vulpix #BedtimeStories #Bedtime
