Oddish and the Light in Venusaur's Grove | A Pokémon Bedtime Story about Starting Somewhere New
A gentle bedtime story for children starting somewhere new this fall - a new school, a new house, a new anywhere - about looking at one real thing at a time instead of guessing at what a new place might be like.
Oddish only ever walks at night, and tonight it is moving. Its old patch of soil has gotten too small - nothing has gone wrong, it has just grown, the way small things do. At the end of the path is a grove so big the leaves close over the top of it like a roof, and somewhere deep inside all that dark there is a low honey-coloured light. Oddish can see the light from outside. It cannot tell what the light is.
Standing at the edge, Oddish says four things out loud: it's too big, the big one who lives in there won't want me, there's nowhere in there for something small, and there's nobody in there for me. Brooks hears all four and does not tell Oddish that any of them are wrong. Instead Oddish goes and looks at them, one at a time - and finds that some of the guesses are true, some are not, and the only way to tell was to go and see.
The Little Feather tells original stories inspired by Pokémon - gentle stories about self-love, emotional regulation, boundaries, leadership, and gratitude.
