Maui and his brothers and sisters made long ropes and chanted a special prayer to protect them from getting too hot. They travelled secretly during the night, hiding under trees during the day so the sun wouldn't see them.

They finally reached the place where the sun rises and found a deep pit where the sun was sleeping. Quietly, they built clay huts and set up the ropes as a trap. When the sun woke up, it got caught in the ropes!

The sun was mad and threatened to roast them, but Maui was brave. He used a magical jawbone to give the sun a big bash and made it promise to slow down. From that day on, the sun glided peacefully through the sky, taking its time to enjoy the beautiful world below. 🌍🌈

This creature lived in a cave, and everyone wisely stayed far away. No heroes or armies came to fight it, so the Chimera got really bored and hungry. Its heads couldn't agree on what to eat – the lion wanted meat, the dragon wanted a crispy knight, and the goat wanted leaves and grass! 🦁🔥🐐

They argued and fought, each head thinking it was the boss. The lion and dragon even had a fiery battle! 🔥🦁 But guess what? Because they couldn't agree, they all got tired and fell down, leaving the Chimera with an empty tummy.

The moral of the story? Teamwork makes the dream work, and it's important to agree on what's for dinner! 

The tailor and his coat - Russian Folk Tale

One day, he decided it was time for a new coat. He haggled with the shopkeeper, and after some friendly arguing, they agreed on a price. The tailor happily went home and crafted a magnificent jacket! His wife loved it, and they strolled through the village, receiving cheers from neighbours.

Years passed, and the coat got worn out. Instead of tossing it, the tailor's wife suggested making a waistcoat. The tailor loved the idea, and soon he paraded through the streets again, admired by everyone.

When the waistcoat wore out, the tailor's wife had another bright idea – a cap! 🧢 The tailor worked his magic, and the cap became his favourite accessory. It too wore out, but his wife suggested a bow tie, making him look even smarter!

The bow tie had its time, and when it wore out, the tailor's wife suggested a wonderful button for his trousers. 🤵👖 For many years, the button served its purpose, keeping his pants up. But, as all good things must end, even the button wore out, and the pants fell down!

The tailor, not discouraged, asked his wife if there was anything left to make. She smiled and said, "Perhaps just enough for… a story!" 

The Blue Jackal - Indian Folk Tale

While hiding, a bucket of blue dye fell on him, turning him completely blue! 🎨 When he saw the monkeys, they thought he was something special. The jackal, now called Fierce Owl, decided to play along.

He told the animals he was sent by the king of the Gods to protect the forest. They believed him and made him their king! 🦉👑 He gave each animal a job, and they all took care of him like a real king.

But one day, he heard the howls of other jackals. Excited, he couldn't resist and howled too. The animals realized he was just a trickster jackal and chased him away! 🏃‍♂️🐾

The lesson? It's better to be yourself than pretend to be someone you're not! 🌟🤔

The Nian Monster

This is a tale from China about Nian, a huge, scary beast that loved to munch on everything in sight every Lunar New Year! 🐉✨ Wesley and Warren, two talented kids from the BKFK community, wrote and performed this story for us! 🎧

Nian was a giant with a lion's head and super sharp teeth, as big as a bus! 😲 It used to sleep all year but woke up hungry on New Year’s Eve to visit a village for a snack. 🍽️ The villagers were super scared and had to hide away.

Then, one New Year’s, an old man appeared. 🚶‍♂️ He asked for food and, when he learned about Nian, he said, "Let me stay for a night, and I'll make sure Nian never bothers us again."

The man prepared the house with red papers and lights, and bamboo. How would this frighten the fearsome monster?!!

The Broken Broom

But then, something amazing happened! Sylvaris the Elf, with her Rainbow Whisper, called upon the birds of the forest to help fix Granny's broom. 🌈🐦 Every type of bird you can think of came to help, bringing twigs and reeds to make the broom like new again!

On a snowy day in the Hundred Acre Wood, Pooh and Piglet decided to make a difference in Eeyore's life. 🐻🐷🐴

Pooh finds Piglet's house empty, but then finds him at Pooh's house. They sing  a heartwarming song about the snow, and set out to share it with Eeyore. Along the way, they got chilly and decided to practice their song while thumping sticks on a gate to stay warm. 🌨️🎶

Inspired by their love for Eeyore, Pooh and Piglet decided to build him a new home at Pooh Corner. With a pile of sticks nearby, they're on a mission to create a cozy haven for their friend.

The Battle of Thermopylae

Warning - best to listen to this episode with an adult! It's very thrilling and exciting! 

Once upon a time in Ancient Greece 🏛️, there was a hot spot called Thermopylae, nicknamed 'hell gate' 🔥. King Leonides and his 300 Spartans 🛡️ stood brave against a massive army led by Xerxes, filled with elephants 🐘, armored rhinos 🦏, and lots of soldiers.

Xerxes' army was HUGE,! They wanted to conquer everything but hadn't faced the Spartans yet. Leonides, the cool king 🤴, chose warriors with kids to ensure their families would go on.

"Tomorrow, we fight to protect our home from Xerxes!" Leonides rallied his troops. They were fearless and even made jokes about fighting in the shade if too many arrows 🏹 came their way.

They reached Thermopylae, with a cliff on one side and a drop to the sea on the other, the perfect spot to stop a big army with a few brave hearts 💪. As Xerxes' noisy army approached, the Spartans got ready for the ultimate showdown.

As both sides prepared for another day of battle, a sneaky path was found 🐐👣. Would it change the fate of the brave 300? How do you think a small path could make a big difference in a battle? 🤔✨

The Rock Concert

Costumes on and stage set, they rocked the night away as The Boulder Bashers, inventing Rock Music! 🌟🤘 The crowd loved it, shouting for more! 🎉👏

With Trolla's sneeze and Snotbeard's smash,

And Grumblegut's belly, we make a splash!

Just in time, Wizzlethorp the Wizard arrived and used a spell to turn back time. Sparky learned an important lesson: stay calm and think things through. 🌟🔮

Lexi realizes the zombies aren't evil, just undead. He uses Morgaff's command to gather them and heroically leads them back to Snaggleton. 🌳

Jorindel camped nearby, dreaming of a way to save Jorinda. He dreamed of a magical purple flower with a pearl-like dewdrop. The next day, he searched tirelessly until he found the flower! 🌸💎

Armed with the flower, Jorindel bravely entered the castle. He freed Jorinda and all the other birds with its magic. The fairy, trying to stop him, was turned into a clucking chicken! 🐔✨

Together, they investigate the claims and realize Grogboon the Goblin Druid—who wrote the book—might just be trying to sell more onions! 🌰

Snotbeard returns to warn his friends, and they all agree to think more carefully about what they read and discuss it with others 💬. The trio learns that reading is powerful, but critical thinking is even more important 🧠.

Suddenly, a deafening roar shattered the silence! 🗣️ Three enormous ogres stomped into the village: Grizzlegore, with his huge tusks 🦷, Bristleback, covered in sharp spikes 🦔, and Sludgefoot, leaving a trail of sticky mud behind him 🌧️.

“Rarrr! Smash it all!” bellowed Grizzlegore, swinging his giant club 💥. “Destroy everything!” roared Bristleback, knocking over a market stall 🏚️. “Bashersplat!” laughed Sludgefoot, stomping his feet and splashing mud everywhere 🥾.

As the village woke up in alarm, Sir Chucklenugget, the brave knight 🛡️, grabbed his sword and armor and ran out to face the ogres ⚔️. But just as he was about to confront them, a shadowy figure appeared, stepping between the knight and the ogres…

Who could it be, and what will happen next? 🤔

It started as a quiet day at the Glugging Gargoyle Tavern... until Jinx and Snickerfang decided to stir up some mischievous fun. 😈🌀 Their plan? Get the Terrible Trio—Trolla, Grumblegut, and Snotbeard—to do silly Flibbity Flubs! 🤪💨

Before long, the entire tavern was caught up in the chaos! Sir Chucklenugget, Granny Gigglesnort, Sparky Flarkbottom, and even Sylvaris joined in, standing up and making the ridiculous burbling noise. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♀️

But when Lexi Lightdancer arrived and burst out laughing, the truth was revealed: Jinx and Snickerfang had tricked everyone! 😱🤣

Lexi reminded the group of an important lesson: “Think for yourselves—don’t just follow the crowd!” 🧠✨
