Scripture: Mark 8:14–21 . Why were the disciples worried about one loaf of bread when Jesus was sitting in the boat with them? In this episode, Jesus warns his disciples about the yeast of the Pharisees and Herod. The disciples think he is talking about bread, but Jesus is teaching them about unbelief. Kids will learn how a tiny amount of yeast affects an entire loaf of bread, remember how Jesus fed thousands of people, and discover how unbelief can spread until it affects the way we think. We’ll also reassure children that feeling worried or struggling with doubt is something we all experience, so they aren’t alone. When worry comes, we do not have to let it convince us that Jesus has forgotten us.   They can remember God’s faithfulness, pray, talk with parents, and take the next faithful step.
