Mum’s phone and the hour-long loo break
Lauren keeps vanishing to the loo, Connor wants to tour schools giving talks about balance, and there are two brand new cases for the court.
Sisters Libby and Jessica are taking Mum to court because she’s always on her phone. Jessica loves role-play with her teddies and toy animals, and Mum is the only one who’ll do it with her, because Libby really, really doesn’t like role-play. So Mum says she’ll be up in a minute… and then never comes. When the girls go downstairs to find her, she’s messaging people. As Jessica puts it: what’s more important than your dearest children?
Mum has a defence ready. Her phone is how she sorts out the girls’ activities, pays for things and does the shopping (although the girls point out that Dad does the food shop). And if they helped more around the house, she might have more time to play. For once in the court of Judge Bex, it’s the kids who want less screen time, not more. Will Mum be putting her phone down?
Then Roman takes his dad, Jack, to court for spending up to an hour on the toilet. Dad only found out about the case the day before, and he reckons it’s 15 minutes, tops. Roman’s stepmum, listening from the corner of the room, says it’s more like 45. Dad is a pastry chef and says he’s scrolling recipes for new desserts. Roman thinks it’s TikToks, and he’d much rather Dad came out and played with his toys. He’s even brought evidence: half a toilet roll. Is the bathroom really Dad’s office…?
