#259: The Great Commission (Go and Make Disciples)
What is the Great Commission, and why did Jesus tell His disciples to make disciples of all nations? In this episode of Truth Seekers: Bible Stories for Kids, we explore Matthew 28:16–20 and discover Jesus’ final instructions to His disciples before His ascension into heaven.
After rising from the dead, Jesus meets His eleven disciples on a mountain in Galilee and gives them an important mission. He commands them to go and make disciples of all nations, baptize them, and teach them to obey everything He commanded. Jesus also gives them a wonderful promise: He will be with them always, to the very end of the age.
But this mission connects to a promise God made thousands of years earlier. In Genesis, God promised Abraham that all peoples on earth would be blessed through him. Now, Jesus, the promised Savior who came through Abraham’s family, sends His followers to share the good news with people throughout the world. From Abraham to Jesus to the Great Commission, we discover how the Bible tells one connected story of God’s faithfulness and His plan to bring salvation to the nations.
This Bible story for kids helps children understand the Great Commission, the importance of sharing the gospel, and how they can follow Jesus by loving others and telling them about Him. Children will also learn that God keeps His promises and that Jesus does not send His followers out alone.
Perfect for Christian families, homeschool Bible lessons, Sunday school, children’s ministry, and family devotions, this episode encourages young listeners to become truth seekers who not only discover the truth about Jesus but share that truth with others.
Scripture: Matthew 28:16–20; Genesis 12:1–3
