Pomona and Vertumnus

Pomona and Vertumnus is a gentle Roman myth about a wood nymph who cares more for her orchards than for any suitor. Pomona prunes her vines with a curved knife and ignores satyrs, Pan, and Vertumnus, the keeper of gardens and seasons. Determined to win her, he returns as a plowman, a reaper, a soldier, a fisherman, and finally an old woman leaning on a staff. Will her cool heart open to the stranger's clever words?
