O-na-tah: The Spirit of the Corn-Fields

O-na-tah: The Spirit of the Corn-Fields is a short Native American legend about the guardian of the maize, whose dark eyes glow like starlight on a dark stream. She once shared the fields with the Spirits of the Bean and the Squash. When she wanders off to find the lost dew, the shadowy Hah-gweh-da-et-gah seizes her and blights her land. Her return home leads to a solemn vow that still shapes how she tends the growing corn.
