Miss Cricket

In Miss Cricket, a vain Katy-Did in point-lace finery plans the party of the season with her gallant cousin, the Colonel. As they weigh Fireflies, Moths, Bumblebees and Hornets, one guest is quietly crossed off: the kind, hardworking Keziah Cricket, who has just come asking help for a family of Ants. Miss Katy's reasons are sharp, funny and revealing, and the Colonel's gentle questions press harder. Then the cold season creeps closer to the garden.
