Palombelletta

Palombelletta is an Italian fairy tale in which a beautiful peasant girl catches the eye of a king — but her jealous stepmother locks her away and schemes to put her own daughter on the throne. Using a witch's golden pin, the stepmother transforms the girl into a dove. Yet even as a small bird, she finds her way to the king's palace, disrupting the royal kitchen with a haunting song. The story builds tension around whether the king will ever discover the true identity of his veiled bride.
