La Cenorientola

La Cenorientola is an Italian Cinderella fairy tale in which a merchant's youngest daughter — scorned by her sisters and hidden away in the kitchen — asks her father for just one gift: a little bird. That bird turns out to be a fairy in disguise, granting the girl three nights of dazzling gowns and golden slippers so she can attend the king's ball. As the king grows desperate to discover the identity of the mysterious stranger who has captivated him, only a lost slipper stands between the girl and the life her sisters have tried to deny her.
