The Seven Clodhoppers

"The Seven Clodhoppers" is a witty folk tale following seven peasants who arrive at confession one by one, each claiming to have stolen a small herb mixture called mistuanza out of hunger. The priest grows increasingly suspicious as the same excuse repeats — but it is only when he questions the seventh man that the full, meat-laden truth tumbles out. The story builds its comedy through deadpan repetition and a perfectly timed revelation, ending in chaos when seven guilty men bolt for the church door.
