May 8 | Should Christians Follow the Rules? | Kids Devotional About Doing What’s Right | Carpooling with Jesus

Hey Carpool Crew! Today we’re talking about one of the smartest answers Jesus ever gave. Some religious leaders tried to trap Him with a tricky question about taxes, government, and Caesar… but Jesus stayed calm, thought clearly, and pointed everyone back to what matters most: honoring God above all.

In this episode, kids will learn that following Jesus sometimes means making hard choices, standing up for what’s right, and staying faithful even when there’s pressure from friends or people around us.

Today’s Big Idea: Do what’s right and honor God above all.

Bible Verse: Matthew 22:17 (CSB) “Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”

In This Episode, Kids Will Learn:

• Why the religious leaders tried to trap Jesus
• What Jesus meant by “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s”
• How Jesus stayed calm under pressure
• Why our hearts belong to God first
• How to handle tricky situations with friends and peer pressure
• Why doing the right thing is always worth it

Family Discussion Question: When is it hardest for you to do the right thing, and what can you do in that moment?
