Have you ever wondered if aliens are listening to our radio stations? Or how astronauts go to the bathroom in zero gravity? Today, 9-year-old Fraser is hanging out with areal-life Canadian superhero of science - the legendary Bob McDonald!

For over 30 years, Bob has hosted Quirks and Quarks on CBC Radio One, answering the weirdest, wildest and coolest questions about our universe.

He is so incredibly smart that Canadian universities have given him 13 [now 14!!]  honorary doctorate degrees.  He holds the prestigious Order of Canada, and he even has a literal asteroid in outer space named after him!

Grab your lab coats and safety goggles, because we are blasting off into the cosmos.

In this episode, Fraser and Bob dig into:

  • The best Canadian inventions ever made – including the lightbulb and insulin!
  • The Asteroid Named "Bobmcdonald" - discover the amazing story behind having a real giant rock flying between Mars and Jupiter named after you.
  • Breaking the Light Barrier: Why Einstein said we can’t travel faster than the speed of light - and the futuristictechnology Bob wants to see that could let us hop around the galaxy in an hour.
  • The Accidental Scientist: How Bob went from being atruck driver who loved motorcycles to becoming Canada's most famous science communicator without ever getting a traditional university degree first!
