The Cat Show

"The Cat Show" places readers inside a grand exhibition where two prize cats, Royalty and Nobility, lounge on velvet cushions amid fawning admirers. When Royalty speaks, the conversation turns unexpectedly sharp: despite the ribbons, cream, and trophies won for a boy's bicycle fund, all Royalty truly wants is for people to remember the alley cats — sisters and brothers — abandoned in the city each summer while their owners retreat to the countryside. A brief story with a quietly urgent appeal beneath its polished surface.
