Harry’s Composition

Harry's Composition is a short story about a school boy widely admired by his peers who falls apart on stage during a Washington's Birthday rehearsal. When Harry breaks down in tears, the truth spills out: he plagiarised his recitation from an old book. Caught between shame and the weight of his own conscience, he confesses in front of the entire class. His teacher's response reframes the moment completely, connecting Harry's painful honesty to the very spirit of the holiday he feared he had dishonoured.
