Naughty Julius

"Naughty Julius" is a short story about a boy whose cruelty toward a disabled neighbour forces him into a moment of terrifying reckoning. Julius mocks Hugh relentlessly — a quiet boy navigating life on crutches after losing his foot to frostbite — until a speeding motor car puts Julius himself in mortal danger. In that instant, it is Hugh who acts. The story builds sharp tension around Julius's callousness before delivering a gut-punch of empathy that lands with real emotional weight.
