St. Patrick

"St. Patrick" by Mary Graham Bonner traces the life of Ireland's patron saint from his capture by pirates at sixteen and years as a slave tending pigs, to his return as a bishop sent by the pope to preach across the land. Around him swirl vivid legends: a heap of snow breathed into fire on a freezing morning, a drum cracked by the thunder of driving out snakes, and a chained serpent at Lough Dilveen whose mournful Monday cry still echoes across the water.
