A Poor Weed

"A Poor Weed" follows a yarrow weed consumed by self-pity — shunned by animals for its bitterness and dismissed by the farmer as a nuisance. Feeling ragged, grey-green, and utterly unwanted, it pours out its sorrows to Old Hay, who gently pushes back against each new complaint. The weed's mood shifts when Old Hay reveals a surprising truth: yarrow has long been kept as a charm, believed to bring luck and a long, prosperous life — proof that even the most overlooked things carry quiet worth.
