Mosquitoes and Snails

"Mosquitoes and Snails" is a witty short story in which a group of snails uses their legendary slowness as a secret weapon. When pushy mosquitoes arrive looking for trouble, the snails launch into unhurried conversation — not out of politeness, but to buy time. A picnic party of children has just passed by, and every drawn-out word keeps the mosquitoes distracted while the children drift safely out of reach. The snails' quiet cleverness turns an apparent weakness into their greatest advantage.
