The True Story of a Dog

"The True Story of a Dog" follows Dash, an aging Irish setter who has spent his whole life on army posts, thriving on the sound of guns and bugles. When his family moves to a sleepy village, Dash fades — until the Fourth of July jolts him back to life. That evening, when his lieutenant slips off to fire cannon crackers by the river, Dash plunges into the water after a lit fuse still burning beneath the surface, and everyone on that bridge holds their breath.
