Mr. Sun’s Birthday

Mr. Sun's Birthday is a short imaginative story about why the sun blazes fiery red as it sets each evening. When a group of gnomes are invited to Mr. Sun's birthday party just before his bedtime, they're puzzled — they never knew the sun had a birthday at all. Mr. Sun explains that he wears his red robe whenever he feels strong, well, and ready to work hard the next day, and that everyone who pauses to admire a glowing sunset is unknowingly wishing him many happy returns.
