Larry’s Labor Day

Larry's Labor Day centers on five-year-old Larry, who discovers a troubling gap between himself and a holiday meant to honor working people. When his father explains that Labor Day belongs to those who have truly labored, Larry quietly disappears into the garden corner for days. What he builds there — neat pebble-lined paths, carefully transplanted ferns, and a single proud geranium — becomes his earnest bid to earn a real share in the celebration, and his small question to his family carries surprising weight.
