Good-Winter

"Good-Winter" follows Billie Brownie as he motors through deepening autumn to bid farewell to friends who will sleep through the winter months. He visits Mother Grizzly in her den, young Ground Squirrels ducking underground for the first time, Mother Black Bear, the Prairie Dog family, and Willie Woodchuck and his cousins — wishing each one pleasant dreams. The story closes with a gentle, rhyming reflection on how what feels natural to one creature can seem wonderfully strange to another.
