Mother Brown Bat

Mother Brown Bat gathers her young ones as the cold sets in, hanging upside down from her favourite beam and reflecting warmly on a summer well spent. With gentle humour she muses on the unfair reputation bats have among humans, defends her family's practical, no-housekeeping lifestyle, and reassures her children — who insist they are no longer babies — that growing up too fast is hard for any mother to accept. Cosy and lightly comic, the story ends with the whole family drifting peacefully to sleep.
