Toody Ruggles’ Luck

Toody Ruggles' Luck follows a skilled young diver who spends his summers retrieving pennies wealthy ladies toss from a seaside bridge. When one woman's diamond ring slips into the deep water, Toody dives again and again until he surfaces — grinning — with the ring in hand. The reward means far more than money to Toody: he has been raising his younger sister alone since their parents died, and she has been too ill for him to afford the fruit the doctor says she needs.
