Little Pitchers

"Little Pitchers" opens on New Year's Eve as young Janet receives a magical visitor: the Fairy Grant-Your-Wishes, sent by the Dreamland King. Rather than wishing for toys or treats, Janet uses her one wish to ask that grown-ups understand how much phrases like "little pitchers have big ears" and "children should be seen and not heard" sting. The story captures the quiet hurt children feel when adults dismiss them, and the hope that one small, honest wish might change hearts across Grown-up-Land.
