Christmas Morning

"Christmas Morning" is a Christmas poem by Eugene Field that traces a celestial chain of joy: angels wake a slumbering star, the star's rapturous song stirs church bells, and those bells drift tenderly through the darkness to rouse a sleeping child. The poem builds from the heavens down to a single small bed, where a parent invites the child to kneel and join the universal hymn of love celebrating the birth of the Shepherd in Bethlehem.
