Saint Nicholas — His Roundelay

"Saint Nicholas — His Roundelay" is a rollicking Christmas poem in which children — Dolly, Sue, Polly, Prue, and Jonathan — lie suspiciously still in bed on Christmas Eve while Saint Nicholas clatters across the rooftop above them. Little Polly dreams of a doll hanging from a Christmas tree and a fantastical candy boar that roars across the world. The poem's joyful refrain captures the conspiratorial delight of children pretending to sleep while the magic of Christmas unfolds around them.
