December

"December" is a Christmas poem that opens with the joyful symbols of the season — holly branches, mistletoe, chiming bells, and stockings hung in a row. Blodgett expands the vision outward, imagining the whole world as a Christmas tree lit by stars, before grounding the poem in its quiet, reverent close: an angel bearing a candle, leading three wise men through the night toward a sleeping child.
