Domingo’s Cat

"Domingo's Cat" is a Brazilian folk tale about a desperately poor man named Domingo who refuses to sell his beloved cat — the one companion he has left. The cat, loyal and surprisingly resourceful, sets out into the jungle and begins digging up silver, gold, and diamonds to present to the king. As the king arranges a royal marriage, Domingo must rely entirely on his cunning cat to provide everything needed — fine clothes, a palace, and a path to a new life.
