The Porcelain Shepherdess

"The Porcelain Shepherdess" is a short story about three porcelain figurines on a farmhouse mantelpiece — a proud shepherdess, a lovesick flute player, and a matchmaking cat with a clever plan. The flute player has adored the shepherdess for years, but she has never spared him a glance. When the cat advises him to turn his attention to the flower girl on the table below, something unexpected stirs in the shepherdess. What follows is a quietly funny and tender tale about pride, jealousy, and how the heart reveals itself only when it fears it has lost something.
