Uncle Wiggily And Mary’s Lamb

Uncle Wiggily and Mary's Lamb is a short story in which rabbit gentleman Uncle Wiggily Longears sets out on a simple errand — soap and a scrubbing brush for spring cleaning — and stumbles upon a crisis. Mary's little lamb, whose fleece should be white as snow, has been covered head to toe in chimney soot and cannot follow her to school. With the barber's shears looming as the only solution, Uncle Wiggily spots a quicker, kinder fix and rolls up his sleeves at a nearby brook to save the day.
