Uncle Wiggily and the Bitter Medicine is a short story about a rabbit gentleman with a sly plan to help a stubborn puppy. When Jackie Bow Wow falls ill with the epizootic after the measles, Dr. Possum insists he must take bitter medicine — but Jackie refuses every trick his mother tries, from sugar and orange juice to a lollypop. Uncle Wiggily steps in with a deceptively simple scheme involving a drawing, a tipped cup, and one well-timed "Ouch!" that catches Jackie completely off guard.
