Uncle Wiggily And The Lightning Bug

Uncle Wiggily and the Lightning Bug is a short story following an elderly rabbit with rheumatism who stops to rest in a cool stone cave on a sweltering day. When a hawk drives away the little yellow bird meant to wake him, Uncle Wiggily sleeps past sunset and finds himself alone in a darkening forest — with a hungry fox lurking nearby. What he mistakes for the glowing eyes of a predator turns out to be something far more helpful: a pair of lightning bugs with thousands of glittering friends.
