Uncle Wiggily And The Green Rushes

Uncle Wiggily and the Green Rushes is a short story in which the kindly rabbit gentleman, Uncle Wiggily Longears, sets off through the woods with squirrel boys Billie and Johnnie Bushytail. When he stops to help a mud turtle flipped helplessly on its back, the grateful turtle offers him a bundle of common green rushes — something the boys dismiss as worthless. But when Mother Goose finds herself unable to scrub her kitchen without a brush, Uncle Wiggily discovers that the humble gift is more useful than anyone expected.
