The Rabbit’s Bride

The Rabbit's Bride is a short fairy tale in which a mischievous rabbit keeps returning to a woman's cabbage garden, each time coaxing her reluctant daughter to come away with him. On the third visit, the girl finally sits on his tail and is carried off to his hutch, where wedding guests — hares, a crow, and a fox — gather under a rainbow. Alone and sorrowful, the girl devises a quiet, clever plan to escape while the festivities carry on without her.
