The Sorceress And The Pearl

"The Sorceress And The Pearl" is a fairy tale by Abbie Phillips Walker in which a kind king is transformed into a toad by a scheming sorceress who wants her own son on the throne. Trapped in the forest and tormented by her cane, the king strikes a desperate bargain: find the sorceress's most coveted prize — a magic pearl belonging to the fairies — and she will restore him. Torn between his own freedom and the safety of the fairy queen, the king must make a choice that puts everything at risk.
