Wait and See

"Wait and See" is a short fable about a young beech tree growing beside its mother, troubled by the feeling that it has no purpose. While neighboring oaks, birches, and spruces all contribute something useful to their landowner, the little beech can only watch and wonder. Season by season — through blossoms, prickly husks, and a heavy frost — the mother tree offers the same quiet advice: wait and see. The story builds gently toward the moment when the beech finally discovers what it can offer the world.
