The Christmas Tops

"The Christmas Tops" is a short story brimming with the warmth of a family Christmas, from holly-covered walls and hand-stirred pudding to the big moment when seven Browns spin seven singing tin tops across the floor. Mr. Brown kicks off the contest with a cheerful countdown, and the whole family — big boys, middle-sized boys, and one small girl — watches and cheers as tops hum and tumble one by one. Who will be the last one spinning? The answer surprises no one more than it delights everyone.
