The Jumblies

"The Jumblies" is a free short story poem by Edward Lear, following a peculiar band of creatures with green heads and blue hands who defy all reason by setting sail in a sieve. Despite warnings from worried friends, the Jumblies venture boldly into stormy seas, singing under moonlight and collecting extraordinary treasures from distant shores. After twenty years of wandering through strange lands like the Torrible Zone and the hills of the Chankly Bore, they return transformed — and their courage ignites the same adventurous longing in everyone they left behind.
