Uncle Wiggily And The Bat

Uncle Wiggily and the Bat is a gentle short story in which the adventurous rabbit gentleman Uncle Wiggily sets out for an evening stroll and discovers young Susie Littletail hiding behind a stump, too frightened to walk home. A swooping bat has stopped her in her tracks, and no amount of moonlight can coax her out. Armed with nothing but a tall silk hat and a Mother Goose rhyme about bacon and cake, Uncle Wiggily devises a clever little trick — equal parts nonsense and kindness — to clear her path home.
