The Legend Of Babouscka

The Legend of Babouscka is a Russian Christmas folk tale about an old woman who turns away three wise men on a cold winter's night, choosing warmth and comfort over a journey to Bethlehem. When regret sets in, Babouscka sets out alone to find the Christ-Child — but she forgot to ask the way. Years stretch into eternity as she wanders from door to door, holding her candle to sleeping children's faces, leaving a toy beside each pillow before pressing on into the snow, always asking: "Is He here?"
