Uncle Wiggily And The Flowers

"Uncle Wiggily and the Flowers" is a short story in which the kind old gentleman rabbit sets out by automobile to visit Aunt Lettie, an ailing goat, stopping along the way to buy a bouquet of fresh flowers to cheer her up. His journey takes an alarming turn when a bad-tempered black bear — maddened by walnut shells stuck to his feet — drags Uncle Wiggily from his car. With no weapon but a sweet-smelling rose, Uncle Wiggily offers it quietly to the bear, and something unexpected begins to happen.
