Goody Two Shoes

Goody Two Shoes is a short story about Margery, a barefoot orphan who wanders the countryside with her brother Tommy, sleeping in barns and depending on the kindness of villagers to survive. When a generous gentleman notices Margery's scratched, aching feet and orders her a pair of shiny new shoes from the cobbler, the joy she feels is overwhelming. Separated from Tommy and desperately lonely, those two simple shoes become something extraordinary — and the source of a nickname that follows her everywhere she goes.
