Uncle Wiggily And The Butcher

Uncle Wiggily And The Butcher is a short story in which the ever-cheerful rabbit gentleman, Uncle Wiggily Longears, braves a relentless rainstorm to fetch groceries for his housekeeper, Nurse Jane Fuzzy Wuzzy. Wishing for an adventure, he gets more than he bargained for when his rubber-booted feet become hopelessly tangled in a submerged tree root — leaving him stranded in a flooded puddle, unable to move. Help arrives in a wonderfully unexpected form: a knife-wielding butcher sailing through the woods in a washtub, singing a familiar Mother Goose rhyme.
