Raggedy Ann And The Chickens | Johnny Gruelle Stories

Left on a fence by Marcella, Raggedy Ann accidentally tumbles into the chicken yard, provoking a protective rooster but getting rescued by two hens who reveal their secret nests, hidden for fear the eggs would be taken. Raggedy learns about hatching and kindly helps keep the eggs warm while the hens eat, leading to the surprise hatching of baby chicks under her care. Marcella eventually finds Raggedy, discovers the hidden families, and joyfully provides the hens and their twenty new chicks safe, separate homes, showcasing themes of misunderstanding, kindness, learning about nature's processes, and the positive outcome of helping others.
