Uncle Wiggily And Tommie Tinker’s Dog

Uncle Wiggily and Tommie Tinker's Dog is a short story by Howard R. Garis in which the kindly rabbit gentleman sets out on a limping journey to play checkers with Grandpa Goosey Gander. When his rheumatism crutch cracks on the forest path, a traveling tinker comes to his rescue — and Uncle Wiggily soon gets a chance to return the favor. Tommie Tinker's little dog, Bow-Wow-Wow, has vanished into the woods, and only the scent of a well-timed meat bone leads to an unexpected reunion.
