Uncle Wiggily And The Pine Tree

Uncle Wiggily and the Pine Tree is a short story by Howard R. Garis in which the cheerful rabbit gentleman sets off through the woods to deliver an apple dumpling to Grandpa Goosey Gander — only to be ambushed by the bad bear. With no easy escape, Uncle Wiggily's only hope lies in a pine tree riddled with woodpecker holes, slowly oozing sticky sap. Whether the bear's greed will hold him long enough for the bunny uncle to slip away makes for a wonderfully tense woodland standoff.
