The Gingerbread Boy | Funny Stories

When Polly and Peter have to miss a picnic because their mother is ill, Polly decides to bake gingerbread cookies, attracting magical help from "Fairy Help-You-Out" which brings one cookie to life as a cheerful Gingerbread Boy. Unlike other versions, this Gingerbread Boy encourages the children to eat him, which they do, only for a surprise indoor picnic to be magically provided by the fairy. The tale ends with the Gingerbread Boy reappearing, highlighting how a positive attitude and imagination can turn disappointment into a magical adventure right at home.
